Those who ride year-round know when the temperature drops, Hot Grips are a must! In production for 35 years, Oxford’s HotGrips are one of the most recognised options in the market, and with these and so many other options it can be hard to decide which Hot Grips are best for you and your bike.
Here’s a simple guide to help you choose wisely and enjoy rides with toastie hands.
What’s the difference between Oxford HotGrips models?
The 35-year evolution of Oxford HotGrips has culminated in the currently available options of HotGrips Premium, HotGrips Evo, HotGrips Pro, and the UK-only HotGrips Advanced.
While all these models follow the same basic principle when it comes to fitting and installation, each model features different grip patterns, based on intended use.
The HotGrips Pro range, for example, has Adventure, Touring, and Sports options, each with a unique pattern for different riding styles.
You also need to consider the differences between the control systems of these models.
- Premium: V8 Switch (an earlier version of Oxford's waterproof analogue temperature controller; must be mounted on the handlebar)
- Evo: V9 Switch (a newer version of the controller with an auto-shutoff feature; must be mounted on the handlebar)
- Pro: Integrated Switch (temperature control is in the grip itself, allowing the rider to adjust temperature without removing their hand from the grip)
Which Oxford HotGrips fit my bike?
Most Oxford HotGrips models fit standard handlebars of 22mm (7/8”) in diameter. However, some variants also fit 1” (25.4mm) handlebars. Find the diameter of the handlebars on your bike, then refer to the table below to reference which HotGrips will fit.
Proper fitment of your Oxford HotGrips not only ensures optimal performance but also contributes to your safety and comfort on every journey.
So, gear up, and as always, stay warm and safe on the road.
